Hello! Good Evening guys, its day nineteen of my OIP trip in Nanjing – China. Today is the last day of my 5 days 4 nights tour which I woke up at 6.30am to shower and relax in the hotel room. Shan Chun and I went down for breakfast at 7am in the hotel. I realise that the food and room standards in Shanghai was not as good as the previous two hotels that we went to Wuxi and Suzhou in the past 2 nights even though I had higher expectation since we are in a more developed country.
I had 2 eggs with fried rice and some light buns. After my stomach is filled I went back to our hotel room with Shan Chun to study for our Telecommunication Principle (TP) Module Common Test (CT) on the 21st September 2011 which is 2 days from now. Meanwhile the hotel staff rang our room bell three times asking when we checked in, which tour group we both were from, and etc. It was rather disturbing and annoying as we could not do much revision with such nuisance.
It was through the process that I found out that the hotel records did not record our presence in their hotel as our room 1512 is suppose to be vacant on our level (Level 5) while the rest of the units would be occupied since 16th September 2011. So it came to me why everybody rooms got the housekeeping service since we all stayed for 2 nights in their hotel while only our room did not receive the housekeeping service.
I had to call the whole world up starting with our lecturer, Mr. Loh, followed up by Mr. Tan for help to resolve this problem. The hotel manager actually came up to request for our passport for verification purposes which was not in our hands. It was believed to be with Mr. Tan and once we called him up, he said it wasn’t with him but was with Ms Zhu. I believe there must be some breakdown in communication somewhere somehow which cause some misunderstanding between the hotel and our organiser.
Anyway once our problems have been resolved due to the hotel mismanagement at their front desk office and time was running short to continue our revision. Shan Chun and I did some last minute packing of our bags while watching some of their local television channel which showcase our childhood cartoons such as Digimon as well as Pokemon episodes. We decided not to go out to do any last minute shopping in Shanghai because we need to check out the hotel by 11am which was pretty rush for us to go anywhere especially when we do not know the area well.
Once everything is pretty much settled and done, we check out of the hotel at 10.45am and waiting for the bus to come at 11.30am. Everyone gathered at the concourse awaiting the hired comfort bus to bring us to our last location in Shanghai to have our lunch before going back to Nanjing.
Once the hired comfort bus came, we went to a nearby highly posh restaurant to have our lunch. It was amazing to see the staff working there serving the meals while they are all on skates. Their skills were amazing and remarkable. If only Singapore has the same concept, how awesome and entertaining things would be. We enjoyed our meal there and our next destination is back to Nanjing.
We took the hired comfort bus at 1pm and the journey back took quite awhile from Shanghai to Nanjing ranging from hours. We stop for a toilet break about 3pm before continuing our journey back and we finally reach Nanjing University of Science and Technology at 5.30pm.
We rush back to our apartment and the first thing we did was to do the laundry as our clothes have not been washed for the past 5 days and it really starts to smell. Once we did our laundry I went to get more strings from Nicson to tie more lines to hang our wet clothes. For a moment our clothes area was fully packed with washed clothes which look as if we were some illegal worker in China.
Once I’m done unpacking my bag and packing my stuff into my luggage, I immediately turn on my laptop to catch up with my social media. It was to my horror that my by-passer (Freegate) was unable to detect alternate sever. Therefore, I was unable to access all the blocked web pages made by China’s authority management. I tired and tired and it did not work out still. I was so annoyed and irritated by this which causes me to lose myself a little. I have so much work to do yet I’m unable to accomplish them.
Anyway I went down for dinner with Shan Chun and Jun Hao to have clay pot rice at one of the restaurant near Gate 3. All three of us had pork clay pot rice for dinner. The weather was chilly as we were all in our jackets trying to keep ourselves warm. It seems the weather temperature has dropped drastically from the day we left Nanjing which was 5 days ago. After our filling meal, we went to the minimart nearby to look for some daily stuff before heading back to our apartment.
Once we were back, Nicson send me another program know as Hotspot Shield to by-pass the sever in China. It was then I was able to surf the internet once more. I was thankful to have him send me this program as now I could catch up with my social media. Guess today long trip has caused me to have slight headache which I don’t really feel too well.
Its 11.15pm now, I’m going to look through my Telecommunication Principle (TP) notes for a while before I go to sleep because my common test for this module is just 2 days ahead. Good Night and Take Care Readers! Miss my family lots.
